PROPOSED PROJECTS

The details of current projects are on web pages of AEDU-Sri Lanka.

These are our proposed projects and we are looking for funds to implement these projects.

  • EXPANDING THE CURRENT PROJECTS
AEDU-INTERNATIONAL intends to support more children and families by expanding its ongoing projects (Foster care project and supporting university students).
  • INCOME GENRATING PROJECTS FOR WIDOWS.
AEDU-INTERNATIONAL intends to identify families suitable for income generating projects according to the circumstances of the family. A suitable programme will be identified and financial support will be provided to generate sustainable income. AEDU-SRI LANKA members will provide technical support to initiate and run the projects.
  • IMPROVING REMOTE SCHOOLS
Several schools in remote areas are deprived of basic facilities. These schools need more attention to improve the educational slandered. AEDU is negotiating with donors to provide necessary support to these schools.
  • AWARENESS PROGRAMME- ALCOHOL ADDICTION AND MENTAL HEALTH
Alcoholism is very common in some villages in the Batticaloa district. This leads to family disputes, neglect of children, nutritional deprivation among the children, school drop outs and children get placed in children homes.
Alcohol related mental health problems are common in these people. AEDU-INTERNATIONAL intents to launch awareness programme about alcoholism and its consequences.
  • REUNIFICATION PROJECTS
Batticaloa district has the highest number of children homes (orphanages) in Sri Lanka. Many children with either parent or mother are living in children homes due to poverty.
AEDU-INTERNATIONAL promotes children to live in the community with parents. AEDU-INTERNATIONAL believes children homes are not the solution for poverty. AEDU-INTERNATIONAL intends to identify these children and reunite them with parents or the mother by providing necessary financial and other support.
  • IMPROVING MENTAL HEALTH
AEDU-INTERNATIONAL intends to organise programmes to improve better mental health. Initially this programme will focus on widows to improve their activity and mental well-being. This programme will include meditation and physical exercises.
Centres will be open in villages to advice and help those with alcohol related problems. These programmes will be implemented with the help of the local heath care authority.
  • HELPING DISABLED
Providing necessary equipment and technical support to disabled people to improve their function and productivity is one of the many goals. These programmes will be implemented in collaboration with other similar donor organisations.
  • VOCATIONAL EDUCATION FOR SCHOOL DROP OUTS
Vocational education for those dropped out of school due to various reasons during the war and those completed A/L but unable to enter university.
  • SUPPORTING GCSE and A/L STUDENTS
Students studying in deprived and remote areas and children from poor families are unable to buy past papers for the above exams and lack proper teaching facilities.
These children will be given educational and exam related materials free of charge. In addition special classes will be organised to improve their performances.
